The Site… A spacious tract of flat, dry land owned and developed by the Orange Economic Development & Industrial Corporation, consists of 56 sub-dividable acres – 65 acres total, adjacent to an under-utilized but well-maintained airport with two 5,000’ runways. Facilities include paved roads with town water mains and hydrants, town sewer, 3-phase electricity, and fiber optics service readily available.
Cooperation & Experience… These are the operative words as the town of Orange, known as “the Friendly town,” welcomes industry and will help occupants of the park to pursue their plans without hassles and headaches. This park is a part of an economic opportunity area which offers state tax credits and local real estate tax deductions. Officials and townspeople, accustomed to an industrial base, are committed to redevelopment appropriate for the next century. Experienced industrial workers are historically the backbone of area communities, providing an ample supply of skilled labor at reasonable wages. Cooperating local and state agencies and boards include the town’s Selectmen and Airport Commission, the North Quabbin Chamber of Commerce, Orange EDIC, Great Franklin County Overall Economic Development Plan, Franklin Regional Council of Governments, Massachusetts Industrial Finance Agency and Massachusetts Office of Business Development, and the Federal Economic Development Administration.
The Bottom Line… Prime industrial sites at the lowest possible cost are offered by a community characterized by a mixture of progressive optimism and New England traditionalism – attitudes shared by community leadership and the general populace. A healthy concern for the community’s natural resources and a realistic awareness of the needs and potential of the area’s human resources have led to widespread support for development of the industrial park.
